The main gearbox BP-14 is designed to sum the power of two engines and transfer it to the main rotor shaft and the drives of helicopter units. The gearbox circuit is stepped, planetary.
To ensure flight with one engine idle, as well as in the self-rotation mode of the main rotor, the gearbox has two freewheel clutches that automatically disconnect one or both engines from the helicopter transmission.
In the front cover of the gearbox there are flanges for mounting spherical motor supports, two motor drives and a fan drive.
A pallet is attached to the lower part of the gearbox, which is an oil collector, and an oil unit is attached to the pallet from below.
The main gearbox, together with the engines, is installed in the engine nacelle of the helicopter and is attached by means of a sub-gear frame to the power frames No. 7 and 10 in the central part of the fuselage.
